"x-men: first class"

when i first heard about this movie i didn't have high hopes.  although bryan singer was coming back in a producing capacity i felt that this was just a bad idea.  then i heard the cast list and i wondered how characters like emma frost could show up in "wolverine" as a child and then also show up in the 60's as and adult?  what the hell?  it just din't make any sense!

but i held most of my judgements until i heard the plot and then later saw the trailer.  i have to say that i was impressed with the trailer.  mcavoy and fassbender were good choices for the two mains, IMO and i knew they could do a good job.  i'm not impressed at all with january jones (other than she has a perfect comic name) and that was the only drawback i had so far.

bacon always does solid work so i had no problem with him and the cast included two of my personal favourite x-men, banshee and beast.

so, at 1040pm on a saturday night we went to the rave at the mall.  i didn't get any popcorn 'cos the idiot behind the counter was clueless and when we changed lines the guy in front of us was asking the person behind the counter the price on EVERY item and then couldn't decide what the frick he wanted to buy!!  anyway...

overall, i enjoyed the film.  it was fun and smart but there were several things that bugged me.  first, professor x as a charming rogue did not sit well with.  second, professor x and mystique hanging out as brother and sister bugged me, january jones as anything bugged me (was she supposed to be totally emotionless and not english?).

what i liked was havok, banshee, beast and the action sequences.
if you like the x-men movies you should enjoy this one.  i you love the x-men comics...you should stay home.
